Our Vision & Merger Story

Coastland College was created through the merger of Weymouth College and Kingston Maurward College – two long-established colleges with deep roots in their communities and distinct strengths of their own.

Weymouth, shaped by its coastal setting, has always been a place of energy, creativity and opportunity. Kingston Maurward, set in 750 acres of countryside, has spent generations developing practical skills in land-based industries, animal care and environmental work.

Coming together has allowed us to build something stronger: one college with two campuses, a wider curriculum, and a shared commitment to helping students thrive. Inspired by the landscape that connects us, Coastland is a name that reflects movement, possibility and a fresh start.

A year after merging, we were proud to be rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and recognised for our “strong contribution” to regional skills needs.

What we stand for

We believe in a community where everyone has the skills, confidence and resilience they need to excel in life and work. Our aim is to make sure every student leaves Coastland College ‘future-ready’, prepared for today and tomorrow’s world.
