SEND Provision
Everyone’s journey is different, and at Coastland College we’re here to make sure you feel safe, supported and have plenty of opportunities. If you have Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND), our dedicated team will work with you to understand what you need and how we can help you succeed.
We want every student to feel welcome, valued and able to take part in all areas of College life.
How we support you
Our SEND Team gets to know you, your strengths, your challenges and the way you like to learn. We work with you, your family and your school or previous provider to put the right support in place from day one.
Starting College can feel like a big step. We offer:
- Pre-entry visits or tours
- Transition meetings
- Taster sessions
- Help settling into new routines
We’ll go at a pace that feels right for you.
Depending on your needs, support might include:
- In-class assistance
- Adapted resources
- Assistive technology
- Exam access arrangements
- Personalised learning strategies
You’ll work alongside skilled support staff who are there to help without getting in the way of your independence.
Across both campuses, we have dedicated, calm learning areas designed to help you feel comfortable and focused. These include:
- Quiet study rooms
- Sensory-friendly spaces
- Base rooms for 1:1 or small-group support
Our facilities allow you to take a break, recharge and return to learning when you’re ready.
We offer a range of programmes designed to build confidence, independence and skills for future life and work, including:
- Foundation and supported programmes
- Pathways for personal development and employability
- Routes into volunteering, work experience or supported internships
Your course will be shaped around your goals, whether you’re preparing for further study, employment or independent living.
We believe support works best when everyone communicates. That’s why we work closely with:
- Families and carers
- Schools and SENDCos
- Local authorities, including EHCP caseworkers
- External agencies and specialists
If you have an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), we’ll review it regularly with you and keep everyone involved.
We’re here for your wellbeing too. You can access:
- Emotional and pastoral support
- Mental health and counselling services
- Study skills help
- Advice on transport, finance and bursaries
If something is affecting your time at college, you don’t have to manage it alone.
