Public Transport (Weymouth Campus)
Weymouth Campus is well connected by public bus routes and rail links, including services from Yeovil, Poole and Bournemouth.
Public Buses
Students can purchase a bus ticket directly on the bus or purchase bus passes online before their journey.
Most commonly used bus routes by our students:
1 – Connects Weymouth and Portland.
10 – Connects Dorchester and Poundbury to Weymouth.
X51 – Runs between Dorchester and Axminster. This route passes through Dorchester and continues as the number 10 bus from Dorchester to Weymouth.
X53 – Runs between Weymouth and Axminster. Travels via the coastal route, through Abbotsbury, Portesham and West Bay.
CR8 – Runs between Blandford Forum and Weymouth, via Winterbourne Whitechurch, Puddletown and Dorchester
Trains
Students can purchase rail tickets at railway stations or online. If train travel is your preferred option, it may be preferable to purchase a railcard.
The train station is approximately a 15/20-minute walk from our Weymouth campus.
Student transport provided by Zeelo
Kingston Maurward & selected Weymouth routes only
For the Kingston Maurward Campus routes, and the Swanage and Dewlish/Cheselbourne routes to Weymouth Campus, Coastland College offers a managed bus service provided by Zeelo.

Zeelo bus charges for 2026/27:
The 2026/27 cost for Zeelo transport will be:
- £1,230 standard student
- £475 Dorchester pick up with matching post code (In order to be eligible, students must have a DT1 postcode)
- £940 HE student
This amount is prior to any reduction as a result of a bursary award – where a bursary is awarded, students will be issued a single-use discount code to reduce the cost.
How to book your seat with Zeelo
- Bookings open during enrolment, you cannot book College transport prior to enrolling on your course.
- Once enrolled, you’ll receive an email invitation to access the Zeelo booking app
- Instalment plans are available at no extra charge
General Zeelo Terms
- Bus service bookings are on a first come, first served basis
- Bookings are for the entire academic year
- Journeys booked but not taken are non-refundable – any journey cancelled ad hoc via the app will not reduce the amount charged, and cancellations must be made in line with the Cancellation Policy below
- Any amendments to students’ journeys should be communicated to Zeelo, please allow up to five working days for amendments to be processed
- Parents/guardians wishing to withdraw students from the service entirely must provide notice at the earliest opportunity by emailing transport@coastland.ac.uk
- If a student no longer requires transport mid-month, refunds will be calculated from the end of the month – refunds will only be awarded for any full months remaining, and no refunds will be awarded prior to the Christmas break or after April
- Students who wish to travel on more than one route will be accommodated at the College’s discretion and only where capacity allows.
- Students are responsible for getting to the bus stop five minutes before departure
- Students must travel only on their registered route
- Students must show their student ID when boarding
- The College Behaviour Policy and Transport Code of Conduct apply at all times
- Routes may be adjusted without notice
- Stop requests can be made direct to Zeelo – these will be assessed against risk assessment requirements and route impact, additional stop request are actioned at the discretion of Zeelo and Coastland College
Travelling by car and parking
Students travelling by car can park on both campuses for free.
At Weymouth campus, you will need to display a valid student parking permit. This will also allow you to park in overflow parking in Lodmoor car park, when the College car park is full.
At Kingston Maurward Campus, student parking is also free but you are not required to display a permit.
Fuel subsidy
Fuel subsidy may be available for students travelling by car, based on your home-to-college travel distance and attendance – please speak to the Student Engagement team to check if you are eligible.
