In Short

The course is for those wishing to develop their basic accounting skills, or to progress to the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting (Level 3) and subsequently to the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 4) and AAT membership.

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required. A key skills initial assessment will be required for all applicants who do not hold one of the following:

  • Qualification at Level 2 or above in a related field, (e.g. bookkeeping, business administration)
  • GCSE grade 4 (C) or above in maths or English
  • Recent, relevant work experience (on agreement with Course Tutor)

You will also benefit from having a working knowledge of using Microsoft Windows. If you have concerns about this please discuss with the Course Tutor.

Course Structure

Course Description

There are specified units which make up the key roles of the accounting occupation at this level.  These units are as follows:

  • Introduction to Bookkeeping
  • Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
  • Principles of Costing
  • The Business Environment (inc Synoptic)

Assessment

You are required to successfully complete a Computer Based Assessment for each unit detailed above, plus a Synoptic Assessment at the end of the course.

Progression

Progress onto the AAT Advanced Diploma (L3), and subsequently to the AAT Professional Diploma (L4) and AAT membership.
