Course overview

In Short

 All kinds of businesses rely on a Computing and IT infrastructure, with highly skilled engineers, designers and programmers commanding high pay.  You will develop a wide range of skills, including computer programming, cyber security, games development, website development, social media and digital graphics & animation.  Our strong links with the IT industry will ensure the provision of relevant work experience and specialist speakers. 

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above including English and maths (or equivalent)orLevel 2 (Technical) Diploma at Merit or Distinction.Mature students and those with relevant experience or special circumstances are also invited to apply.

Assessment

Assessment is in the form of two written exams in year one plus course work.In year two you will be required to complete two externally set controlled projects plus course work. 

Progression

This is an excellent way to start your career in the IT industry. Although it may be possible to get a job following this course, most students will progress to study an HND in Computing here at Weymouth College, an Apprenticeship or another higher education course.
