Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs minimum grade 3 including English and maths. You will be required to complete a weekly work placement. You will need a keen interest and enthusiasm in forestry & arboriculture. Tetanus protection is recommended.

Health and safety & working in the land and wildlife industry

Machinery, tools and equipment

Understanding the environment, conservation and science of trees & plants

Tree classification and identification

Tree establishment and woodland management

Tree felling and ground based operations

Assisted tree climbing and aerial pruning operations

Tree work placement and tree work skills

English and maths for students who do not have GCSE grades 4/C or Level 2 Functional Skills.

Progression

Employment in arboricultural, forestry or allied businesses, work with tree surgeons, work with contractors for utility, road, rail and housing tree projects, domestic garden tree work.
