Course overview
Floristry is a creative, innovative and stimulating career and this course will give you the opportunity to gain an industry recognised qualification. It offers an excellent starting point for those who are seeking a career in floristry, whether school leavers or mature students. Covering basic floristry skills, we focus on how to use colour, texture and balance within commercial designs, funeral and wedding work, along with work experience in a retail florist.
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs minimum grade 3. including English and maths. Mature students lacking formal qualifications will be considered based on previous experience. You will be required to complete a work placement. Previous floristry experience is not required however a flair for colour and an interest in flowers and plants is required. Tetanus protection is recommended.

- Construct wired and glued designs
- Construct designs in a medium
- Construct hand tied floristry designs
- Health & safety work practices within the industry
- Identification and care of cut flowers, foliage and plants
- Floristry work placement
- Responding to a floristry brief
- English and maths for learners without GCSE grades 4

Employment with florist shops, employment in hotels, freelance designer, customer service assistant/manager, exhibition designer, florist, horticultural garden centre worker/manager, interior designer.
