Tuesday 30th June 2026

Coastland College finished the academic year by celebrating the achievements of exceptional students, with as 38 award winners were recognised at a special ceremony.

The annual Student Awards honoured learners from across both the Weymouth and Kingston Maurward campuses, recognising outstanding achievement, dedication, personal development and commitment to their studies.

More than 160 guests, including students, families, staff and governors, attended the event, sponsored by the Dorset Echo, which showcased the breadth of talent and success across the College.

The ceremony – the first of its kind since Weymouth and Kingston Maurward was renamed Coastland College – was compered by Ian Girling, Chief Executive of Dorset Chamber, and featured an inspiring address from Helena Conibear, High Sheriff of Dorset. Guests also enjoyed performances from Coastland College’s Performing Arts students.

Awards were presented by Principal and CEO Kate Wills, and Vice-Chair of Governors, Richard Barker, with each winner recognised for their individual accomplishments and personal development with a certificate and voucher.

Following the ceremony, guests gathered for a traditional cream tea accompanied by music from professional harpist Tessa Palacios, while A Level student Fred Sills provided a memorable bagpipe performance outside as guests arrived for drinks.

“The Student Awards are one of the highlights of our academic year. They provide an opportunity to celebrate not only academic achievement, but also the resilience, determination, creativity and personal growth that our students demonstrate every day.

“Each award winner has a unique story and has made a positive impact on our College community. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and delighted to celebrate them alongside their families, friends and staff who have supported them throughout their journey.”
