A Coastland College student is preparing to represent their swim club on a national stage after being selected to compete at the Special Olympics Summer Games in Birmingham this August.
Sam, a student in the Foundation Learning department at Coastland College’s Weymouth Campus, has been chosen to take part in the prestigious event alongside fellow swimmer Jake, both representing the Wild Sharks Swim Club based in Shaftesbury.
The Special Olympics Summer Games will bring together athletes with intellectual disabilities from across the country to compete in a celebration of sporting achievement, determination and inclusion.
Sam is looking forward to the opportunity and the challenge ahead.
“I am excited for the competition and to be in the Olympics. I am going to do my best swimming and try really hard to make people proud.”
