Delivered through the Adult Learning Team, this course is a comprehensive three-day training programme designed to equip workplace first aiders with the practical knowledge and skills required to respond effectively to emergency situations. It covers a wide range of essential first aid competencies, making it particularly suitable for larger organisations those working in higher‑risk environments.

Course Description
The course covers a wide range of first aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. It includes the following:
- Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
- Dealing with unresponsive casualties
- Assessment of the situation
- Fractures and spinal injuries
- Control of bleeding
- Poisoning
- Burns
- Epilepsy
- Resuscitation and AED awareness
- Bandaging
- Heart attacks
- Head injuries
- Chest injuries
- Asthma
- Stroke
- Shock
- Choking
- Eye injuries
- Sprains and strains
- Diabetes
To note
The course is delivered over 3 days, with the first day covering the requirements of the One-day Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. All three days of training must take place within 10 weeks but can be delivered on a flexible basis to accommodate your specific needs.
The course will be delivered at the Coastland College Weymouth Campus, Cranford Avenue, with free parking available and refreshments and lunch provided. Training can be delivered on site to meet business needs, please contact us to discuss a pre-course assessment of your premises.
A maximum of 12 students are allowed on all training sessions and there is no exam at the end of the course. Successful completion of course is based on continual assessment throughout the duration of the course and electronic certificates which are valid for 3 years will be distributed within 10 working days of the end of the course.
