First Aid in Emergency Pediatric – Level 3

Course overview

Delivered through the Adult Learning Centre, this one-day course is designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and babies and provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of pediatric first aid conditionals and incidents.

Course Structure

Course Description

The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations. It includes the following:

  • Role of the Paediatric First Aider
  • Primary survey
  • Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)
  • Wounds, bleeding and shock
  • Seizure
  • Choking
  • Minor injuries
  • Recovery position

Progression

This qualification is unit 1 of the two-day FAA Pediatric First Aid qualification and can be studied on its own or could lead to progression onto the two-day course.

To note

The one-day course is a minimum of 6 contact hours, and will be delivered at the Coastland College Weymouth Campus, Cranford Avenue with free parking available and refreshments and lunch provided.  Training can be delivered on site to meet business needs, please contact us to discuss a pre-course assessment of your premises.

A maximum of 12 students are allowed on all training sessions and there is no exam at the end of the course. Successful completion of course is based on continual assessment throughout the duration of the course and electronic certificates which are valid for 3 years will be distributed within 10 working days of the end of the course.
