Entry Requirements
Selection is by interview. A positive attitude and a willingness to work hard. Applications from mature students are welcome. GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths or Level 2 Functional Skills in English & Maths. Progression from Level 1 Plumbing Studies or relevant Industry experience may also be possible.
Course Structure
Course Description
The practical and theoretical subjects will include the fundamentals in building services engineering:
- Health and safety in building
- Services engineering
- Electrical principles and processes for building services engineering
- Scientific principles for domestic, industrial and commercial plumbing
- Common plumbing processes
- Cold water systems
- Domestic hot water systems
- Sanitation
- Central heating systems
- Drainage systems
- Understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering.
Assessment
Assessment will take place throughout the course, Plumbing theory will have an online multiple choice exam at the end of each unit. Plumbing practical assessments are provided in a paper based portfolio, the assessments will be undertaken in our workshop following relevant unit training
Progression
You can progress from Level 1 to Level 2, both qualifications will improve your prospects of finding employment or apprenticeship training in the plumbing/domestic heating industry.
