This qualification prepares you to work as a fully licensed practitioner with children and their families in a variety of settings and environments within children’s services.

Entry Requirements

  • Selection is by interview
  • 5 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above including English or maths at grade 4
  • Students will also need to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service application (formerly CRB) to attend work placements. More information about your Disclosure and Barring Service check will be provided at enrollment

Course Structure

Course Description

There are 14 units to complete the Childcare NCFE Level 2 Diploma:

  • EYP 1 Roles and responsibility of the early year practitioner
  • EYP 7 Support the planning and delivery of activities , purposeful play opportunities and educational
  • EYP 6 Support care routines for babies and young children
  • EYP 4 Safeguarding, protection and welfare of babies and young children in Early years settings
  • EYP 13 Partnership working in the early years
  • EYP 14 Support the needs of the child in preparing for school
  • EYP 12 Promote Positive behaviour in Early years settings
  • EYP 9 Support well-being of babies and young children for healthy lifestyles
  • EYP 11 Support the needs of babies and young children with special education needs and disability
  • EYP 2 Health and safety of babies and young children in the early years
  • EYP 5 Understand how to support children’s development
  • EYP 3 Equality, diversity and inclusive practice in Early Years settings
  • EYP 8 Promote play in an Early Years Settings
  • EYP 10 Support babies and young children to be physically active

Assessment

You will be assessed in a variety of units by means of tasks which are written and assessed by Tutors to meet criteria set by the Awarding Body. You will also undertake 250 hours of work experience where you will gain valuable knowledge and skills working in either schools or early years settings. Work experience will be organised and monitored by the college Work Placement Officers, with four observations throughout the placement.

Progression

With this qualification you may enter employment and gain additional training through an Apprenticeship or progress to further education such as the T-level in Education & Childcare.
