The School of Digital and Creative Industries has excellent facilities; a print room with silk screen, etching and lithography presses, a 3D workshop for wood, metal and resin processes, photographic studios with wet and dry rooms, an Apple Mac room,ceramics and life drawing studios, and studios for graphics and textiles, state-of-the-art HDTV Multicam studio and gallery, editing suites using professional Adobe Software, broadcast quality sound studio, extensive media-based computer software and hardware. You will be taught by award-winning lecturers with extensive industry experience. The creative industry employs around two million people with employment in the sector having grown at double the rate of the economy as a whole.

Our students are taught using excellent traditional, state of the art and experimental facilities, such as; print studio, textiles workshop, ceramics room, 3D workshop with wood, metal and resin facilities, a 3D printer and large bed laser cutter, brand new specialist PC suite carrying industry standard software, photographic studio and dark room and a large, dedicated drawing and painting studio.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with professional artists and photographers to gain valuable experience as you work on curating and delivering an Arts Festival and engage in a variety of live projects and experiences – including international, national and local trips, life drawing and talks from visiting artists and photographers.
Entry Requirements
- GCSE English and maths at minimum grade 3 (D) or equivalent.
- GCSE Art at minimum grade 4 (C) or an Art and Design Level 1 qualification or a BTEC Art & Design Certificate
- A portfolio of your own artwork showing a broad range of creative skills. Portfolio evidence of your own creative work in art, design or photography is essential.

Assessment
Your practical and written work will be assessed throughout the year on a regular basis by your subject lecturer and tutor. You will also be assessed in response to group discussions with other students on your course.
Progression
You can continue your studies at a higher level such as the Extended Diploma, Foundation Diploma or Foundation Degree.
Tools/Materials/Books
The College library has an extensive lending and reference book stock, in addition to videos and journals. You will need to buy all your own art materials to use at college and to work independently. Reasonably priced art packs are available from the College shop at the start of your course. You will also need sketchbooks and mounting materials for each project, a memory stick and a 500GB external hard drive. You will be studying Art and Design first hand and you will be expected to participate in trips to museums and galleries, which will cost around £10-£25 per visit.
