Course overview
This one year programme offers a broad range of subjects alongside practical skill development. Assessment takes place throughout the year through practical assessments and written assignments.
This course enables applicants to develop the basic skills, knowledge and understanding needed to work in agriculture and the countryside, preparing them for employment within the industry or progression onto a more advanced course or apprenticeship.
Kingston Maurward Campus at Coastland College offers an ideal environment for students to develop agricultural and countryside skills alongside numeracy, literacy, IT and study skills, supported by expert guidance.
Entry Requirements
• 4 GCSEs grade 2/E or above, including English and maths.
• An interest and enthusiasm for working in land-based industries is essential. Other relevant experience and attitude to work and learning will be considered at interview. Learners are expected to complete up to 227 hours of work experience with an external placement provider during the year.

Employment opportunities may include general farm worker, tractor driver, working for an agricultural contractor, assistant shepherd or herdsperson, assistant gamekeeper, assistant dairy person, contract milking or supporting roles in estate maintenance.
