Course overview
Are you interested in a future working with animals and do you care about the environment?
Do you need some extra support to achieve your career aims?
This one year course will give you the opportunity to develop your knowledge, practical skills and team-working by working with a range of animal species in our college animal collection.
During this one year course you will also develop the abilities, personal qualities and employability skills to equip you for the next level course or future employment. You will be expected to complete a number of written and practical assessments throughout the year and you are required to complete at least 80 hours work experience with an external employer within the animal care industry.
Entry Requirements
GCSE grades 2/E or above, including maths and English OR Entry 3 Functional Skills OR an Entry Level qualification.
Your attitude to learning will also be taken into account.

Husbandry of animals involving feeding, cleaning and health checking.
Handling, moving and exercising animals.
Safe and effective working.
Preparation for working in the land-based sector.
Working with others whilst improving your own organisational and planning skills.
