Entry Requirements

At least 5 GCSEs at grade 9-5, including English and grade 6 (B) in Maths, as well as either grade 66 (BB) in Double Award Science, or 6 (B) in Biology. You are expected to have high of attendance and commitment.

Course Structure

Course Description

A Level Biology explores the fascinating complexity of life, from the structure of cells and genetics to ecosystems, biodiversity and the human body.

You’ll develop:

  • A deep understanding of biological principles and how they connect
  • Practical, mathematical and analytical skills
  • An awareness of how biology shapes health, technology, and the environment
  • Confidence to pursue scientific study or employment in health and life sciences

You’ll take part in practical investigations, experiments and data analysis to develop your scientific and research skills.

This course suits curious, motivated learners who enjoy problem-solving and want to understand how living systems work, from molecules to entire ecosystems.

Progression

Biology is an excellent preparation for many degree courses, with students going on to study medicine, paramedic science, conservation biology and genetics. You could also train with an employer such as the NHS.
