Course Description

Film is one of the most powerful forms of storytelling, shaping how we see the world and how the world sees us.

At Coastland College, you’ll explore film as both art and industry: how meaning is created through cinematography, editing, sound and performance, and how culture, politics and technology influence what we see on screen.

You’ll study a diverse range of films, from Hollywood classics to independent, British and global cinema – developing your analytical, creative and technical skills along the way.

You’ll analyse 12 set films across two years and complete creative coursework that showcases your own filmmaking and storytelling skills.

This is a course for anyone who loves film, storytelling, and understanding how visual media communicates ideas and emotion. You’ll graduate with a blend of analytical insight, creative skill and cultural awareness – essential for success in the media and beyond.
