Course Structure

Course Description

Media is everywhere – shaping how we see the world, how we connect with others, and how we express ourselves.

At Coastland College, A Level Media Studies lets you explore the power of communication across film, television, magazines, advertising, social media and more.

You’ll learn how meaning is created through images, sound and narrative, while examining the relationship between media producers and audiences.

From traditional print to digital platforms and gaming, you’ll analyse how stories are told, and how they influence society.

Led by staff with expansive industry experience, this course blends academic investigation with creative production, helping you develop both analytical insight and practical skills that can take you into degree level study or a range of exciting industries.

The course suits students who are creative, curious and engaged with how the media reflects, and shapes, the world around us.

Progression

Students typically progress to a range of degree level courses, such as media production or journalism, while others use their knowledge to progress into the workplace, or may go on to form their own production companies.
