Course Structure
Course Description
Photography is about more than taking pictures – it’s about exploring the world through your own creative lens.
At Coastland College, you’ll develop your technical ability, artistic vision and conceptual understanding through both digital and analogue photography.
You’ll learn to use professional cameras and software such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as traditional film and darkroom techniques. Researching the work of photographers and artists, and trips to inspiring photography and art locations, will help shape your own ideas, while hands-on experimentation will build your portfolio and confidence.
Whether your interests lie in fine art, portraiture, documentary or digital media, this course gives you the freedom to explore your individuality and tell powerful visual stories.
Progression
Students often go on to study photography, art & design, media production, or visual communications at university, or move into creative apprenticeships and freelance work.
