Course Structure
Course Description
Politics shapes everything – from the laws that govern us to the freedoms we enjoy.
At Coastland College, you’ll explore how governments operate, how political decisions are made, and how ideas influence power in the UK and across the globe, as well as studying different political beliefs, democracy and electoral systems, voting behaviour and the media.
You’ll debate current affairs, study real political events and develop the skills to think critically, argue persuasively and analyse complex issues – skills that are invaluable at university and beyond.
You’ll be taught by a qualified lecturer who has read Politics at university. Learning will also extend beyond the classroom through visits to Parliament and guest lectures from local MPs and political figures. These opportunities will help you experience politics in action and gain valuable insight into political processes.
Progression
A Level Politics is excellent preparation for further study and a wide range of careers. Students often progress to degrees in politics, law, history, international relations or philosophy, or move into public service, policy, media, or law.
