Course Overview

Entry Requirements

At least 5 GCSEs at grade 9-5, including English and grade 6 (B) in Maths, as well as either grade 66 (BB) in Double Award Science, or 6 (B) in Physics. You are expected to have high of attendance and commitment.

Course Description

Physics helps us understand how the universe works, from the tiniest particles to the vastness of space.

At Coastland College, you’ll explore the major foundations of modern and classical physics – the forces, energy and principles that shape our world and prepare for a future in engineering, science or technology.

You’ll also choose an optional specialist topic, such as astronomy, medical physics, turning points in physics, and engineering science.

Our A Level Physics course combines theory, experimentation and problem-solving to build your understanding of how and why things happen. You’ll be challenged to think logically, work creatively, and apply mathematical and scientific principles to real-world problems.

Delivered through a mix of engaging lessons and hands-on practicals, this course develops the skills and confidence valued by universities and employers alike.

Progression

Physics is a gateway to a wide range of university degrees and technical careers, including physics and astrophysics, mechanical or electrical engineering, maths,

chemistry or computer science. Many local employers are currently seeking these skills.
