Course overview
In Short
Are you interested in a career in business? Not sure about which area would suit you best? This course is designed to give you an overview of the different activities which contribute to the success of a business, e.g. marketing, HR and customer service. You will also gain essential knowledge about setting up your own business – planning, promoting and financing.
Entry Requirements
Successful interview plus one of the following:
- 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 (D) or equivalent including maths and English
- related Level 1 or Foundation Certificate
- related work experience.
Course Structure
Course Description
You will study an exciting range of topics giving you a great insight into a varied range of Business areas and a wonderful grounding to move onto the level 3 Business qualifications. Units may include:
- Business culture and responsibilities
- Deliver customer service in a business environment
- Solve problems in a business environment
- Produce documents in a business environment
- Work with others in a business environment
- Communicate in a business environment
- Contribute to running a project
Assessment
You will be assessed by internal and external coursework. Assessment is made up by coursework, practical observation, working as part of a group and role play.
Progression
This course has a natural progression to higher level qualifications or you may go direct into employment. Note: that some careers have a minimum age for entry. Students wishing to progress to the Level 3 course will need a minimum of Level 2 Diploma with Merit profile, good level of attendance and punctuality and recommendation from current teaching staff.
