A successful interview plus one of the following:
- 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above including English and maths or equivalent
- BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Business with merit or distinction profile plus Level 2 English and maths.
Course Structure
Course Description
You will study an exciting range of topics giving you a great insight into a varied range of Business areas as well as having the opportunity to undertake work experience and arrange local events. In the first year you will study for a foundation diploma studying: Exploring Business, Developing a Marketing Campaign, Personal and Business Finance, Managing an Event, Recruitment and Selection in Business and English Legal System..For the second year you will top up to an Extended Diploma studying further units such as International Business, Principles of Management, Business Decision Making, Team Building and Work Experience.
Assessment
The course emphasises practical application of learning, which involves assessments by projects, case studies, presentations, exams and controlled assessments. You will also visit local and national businesses and organisations. Your studies will be monitored through the academic tutorial system, ensuring that you know exactly how you are progressing.
Progression
Many students will progress to various degree or Higher National Diploma courses at university. The course offers a thorough grounding in real world business skills allowing you to confidently enter employment. You may apply for junior managerial/trainee roles both in specific areas such as human resources, finance and marketing, but also into business generally. You may also progress on to our HNC/D in Business & Management. Additionally, having completed the course you should be capable of starting up your own business.
